CranioSacral Therapy

CST is a gentle non-invasive therapy that is extremely powerful.
How does CST work?

  • The body makes cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain in a regular pattern. This fluid moves through a protective covering that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, (Dura), creating a system called the craniosacral system.
  • The cranial rhythm can be divided into 2 phases. Expansion when the membrane system fills with CSF and contraction when the whole system is absorbing the CSF or Flexion and Extension. This cycle takes between 4 to 12 cycles per minute.
  • The rhythm can be felt at points on the body, Feet, knees, hips, diaphragm, shoulders and head positions. Checking for symmetry, volume and quality across the body.
  • Any differences in the CSF indicate restrictions in the fascia due to trauma or injury of the tissue, muscles or bones.
  • This can then be gently released and the CSF is then reassessed.

Summer Holiday Dates

I will be on holiday 19th to 27th July, 2025Moreton Clinic is closed 24th July.

Moreton Clinic dates:
Every Thursday except 24th July

Why choose CST?If you are in pain and the thought of being cracked and pulled around doesn’t appeal then CST could be for you.

I see clients that have been in a significant amount of pain for many years and think “that’s it, this is me for life now”.

For some people they want to be snapped like a glow stick and I myself like the occasional crunch. But when you are suffering with arthritis or EDs then that can sound like hell.

Sometimes where the pain is, is a symptom and it helps to feel the CSF to find the cause.

Eg, a pain in the shoulder or arm is often the neck and shoulder blade.

What’s different about CST touch?

Steak and the hot pan analogy:

Imagine a beautiful rump steak. When this is placed into a hot pan it automatically shrinks up and the heat can’t penetrate the meat.

The same thing happens with our muscles when it anticipates pain. The muscles tighten and stop the muscles or bones from moving.

If the steak is taken off the heat and allowed to rest it relaxes again and can be placed back in the pan. This time the heat penetrates through the streak.

As CST is so gentle it doesn’t activate the nervous system and then the muscles, facia and bones can gently release using the CSF.

Have a wonderful Summer! See you soon
